2 days in London Guide
Hey there fellow reader ( boomer tone of voice intended ). It is me your activities planner helper. I want with this blog post to offer you a couple of alternatives and ideas about things to do in London in 2 days , and how I ( as a local ) recommend you spend these 2 days.
As a ‘‘ how to guide ‘‘ : Below things will be grouped by close proximity as proximity is often a deciding factor when travelling due to time and energy levels and costs. So events will be grouped by proximity but will be categorised by what ‘‘category they actually represent’’. So you can go and choose , for instance if you want street food and site seeing see ‘‘ Food Markets , Sightseeing , Gallery and Museum’’ as that includes 2 of your preferred choices + some that are close in proximity and are worth visiting as these are one of the best places in London .
Art, galleries, street food and panoramic views of London
Step 1: Start Your Day at Old Spitalfields Market
Kick off your day at Old Spitalfields Market, one of London’s busiest and most hectic markets ( only hectic midday as all of City of London dines there - well not all but many people do). It’s a great spot to grab some breakfast or an early lunch. I personally recommend Dumpling Shack - pretty freaking nice dumplings. You’ll also find a mix of trendy shops there and some locally produced goods too. I recommend you shop locally, but again it is a matter of preference.
Step 2: Walk towards Liverpool Street to catch gorgeous views of city of London
Next step since it is in close proximity and because of that it technically makes sense you should walk towards Liverpool Street station to catch great views of city of London while also observing some architectural marvels and observe how London managed to preserve both its ancient and new ‘‘city side’’ . Near Liverpool Street I recommend grabbing a coffee somewhere nearby and continue your journey towards Leadenhall market while potentially walking around those streets aimlessly a bit just to absorb the vibe of the city and its beauty.
Step 3: Explore Leadenhall Market
Just a short walk from Spitalfields, head over to Leadenhall Market. This historic market is a must-visit for any Harry Potter fan, as it was used as a filming location for Diagon Alley. While the market itself has a mix of shops, the real attraction is the stunning architecture and the "wow, so cute" atmosphere that will leave you with nice picks and good memories.
Overall you ll spend there about 20 minutes to picture things, in my opinion there is nothing much to do there, but if you want to dine or do shopping there are lots of options there.
Step 4: Visit Horizon 22 for Amazing Views
Next up is Horizon 22, a viewing spot just a few minutes from Leadenhall Market. It's the perfect place to soak in breathtaking views of the London skyline. Whether you're snapping some photos or just taking it all in, this spot is a hidden gem you won’t want to miss.
Step 5: Discover Guildhall Art Gallery and the Roman Amphitheater
A short walk away, make your way to the Guildhall Art Gallery. It’s not just about the art (although it’s excellent), but beneath the gallery lies something truly unique—a Roman amphitheater, the only one remaining in London. While it may not be visually impressive at first, its historical significance makes it a fantastic stop for history enthusiasts.
Step 6: Walk from Bank Station towards Tower Bridge to grab the most fantastic views of London
After a day filled with art, history, food, and views, unwind by talking a short walk from Bank towards Tower Bridge. On the way you’ll have the chance to see Tower Bridge, thames river, Tower of London etc. At Tower Bridge you can either cross the bridge and move towards London Bridge , or you can walk towards St Katherine’s dock and stop by Traders Wine bar for a glass of wine, gorgeous views of the dock and maybe some snacks ( why not )
