Looking for a unique movie experience under the London sky? Drive-in cinemas are, offering a blend of nostalgic charm and modern comfort. Whether you’re planning a romantic date night or a fun family outing, here are some of the top drive-in cinemas in London that you should definitely check out.

Note to readers** The Drive In ( location in point 2 ) is probably the only functioning drive in cinema in London in 2024. It seems that once a flourishing business during the pandemic has seen sharp declines in 2024 with less and less locations available.

1. Love Theatre: Drive In

Located at Troubadour Meridian Water, The Drive In brings the nostalgia of the 1950s American drive-in theatre to London. It offers a contact-free experience with sound broadcast straight to your car’s FM radio, live actors, and classic cinema refreshments delivered by attendants in vintage attire. The venue is perfect for enjoying blockbusters, cult classics, and even live performances from the comfort of your car.

  • Location: Troubadour Meridian Water, Harbet Road, Edmonton, London, N18 3QQ

3. Luna Drive-In Cinema

Luna Cinema brings its outdoor movie magic to drive-in formats at Allianz Park and Printworks London (however you need to sign up to their mailing list to receive dates and updates). 5. Moonbeamers

While not necessarily located in London itself , this pop-up cinema, is not a long drive away from London and often hosts special pop-up movie nights for Halloween, Christmas and other dates. We thought it is a worthy mention give its close proximity and special screenings.

  • Locations: Can be various, normally in Barleylands

  • Highlights: Family-friendly films, diverse genres, special screenings available

  • Price: Varies

  • Website: Moonbeamers

Bonus Point: Duke’s Drive-In Cinema

Duke’s Drive-In Cinema at The Brentford Project was a unique experience ( that is now closed! )tailored for classic and supercar owners, featuring screenings of films like "Bullitt" with its legendary car chase scenes. Guests enjoyed seeing famous cars from the film on display and indulged in contactless takeaway food and drinks, including Santa Maria pizza and draft beer from The Brewery Tap, all served by Duke's roller waiting staff. Though this event has concluded, keep an eye on their site for more interesting events.

Generally there are not many drive in cinemas left in 2024. A business model that once boomed (during the pandemic period) seems has now lost its charm. Many cinemas have closed their doors in the past couple of years. Nevertheless the above options are still open and we hope this will provide you with some options to consider!
